The primary attraction for reality television (TV) is its efforts to portray real people performing everyday activities and interactions. Reality TV has a huge influence on society’s view of certain people and different races. We chose to explore the stereotypes of the Black male played out through reality television. In addition, there is information on the history and development of these stereotypes and the ways they exist in present-day society.
Our creative project will feature video clips that back up the claims made in our papers in regards to MTV’s The Real World. They will feature the black male as angry, as violent, and as a sexual predator. There are also numerous links to the MTV web site, where many of the mentioned episodes are availble for viewing.
